Sthefani’s 6th birthday is today… March 24th! I’m specially praying for a sponsor for her as a beautiful birthday gift for her life. She will be blessed to have a person come alongside her, speak life and blessing to her, encourage her in her walk with Jesus, and see her beautiful value and worth through your eyes as you write to her.
Sthefani’s info says that she lives with her father and her mother. At home, duties include helping in the kitchen, running errands and cleaning. Her father is sometimes employed as a farmer and her mother maintains the home. There are 2 children in the family. For fun, Sthefani enjoys playing with dolls, jumping rope and running. She attends church activities and Bible class regularly and is in primary school where her performance is average.
When the profile info for a child like Sthefani says that she “helps in the kitchen,” it’s not talking about loading dirty dishes in the dishwasher, pouring in the soap and pushing the button… or unloading clean dishes from the dishwasher back into the cupboard. Rather, it’s this. Here is a photo I took last summer of the “kitchen” of my girl, Daniela. What the photo doesn’t show is how incredibly HOT it is while working in this kitchen.
Actually, Daniela’s kitchen has a bit of an upgrade… they had an outdoor sink with piped water… if there was water available. Daniela’s area has a shortage of water, and at the Compassion project, they were having to purchase water from a truck. I don’t know what the families do in their homes.
In the community where Sthefai lives, the children carry water in buckets. I know that the children in Yolani’s community do this too. In each of these Honduran communities, one of the chores the children help with is gathering firewood for cooking meals in their outdoor ovens.
We really do take so much for granted.
In my first letter to a new sponsored child, I usually try to find something from their profile info that I can praise them for… such as helping to gather firewood. I tell them that I’m so proud of them for being such a good help for their families.
Would you like to sponsor Sthefani? (I wonder if her name is pronounced with a lisp??!?) You would be giving her the best birthday gift ever! And as her new sponsor, I will email you the full resolution version of her birthday photo as my gift for you to use in your letter or online email to her. Contact me here to sponsor Sthefani.
